Discuss with your assigned Movement Method Adviser which family might be suitable for this Case study. Think of families that currently needs empowerment and needs to learn to trust that they are the expert for their child and that they are absolutely capable of making the right decision for their child. This could be helping them deal with family members, stand up for their child’s rights in front of therapists or the schools IEP meeting etc. Case study should include the story of the child, current status, goals for parent to feel more empowered, steps to reach those goals and outcome. - Human Environment Case Study 2: Set the child up for success (Child 1: low functioning)
Discuss with your assigned Movement Method Adviser which child might be suitable for this Case Study. For the selected child please write a one page report on the selected approach, how you implemented it. Please include the story of the child, pre Movement Method status (life skills/academic skills), goals for the child, steps to reach those goals and outcome. Through out your report please include how you involved the parent every step of the way (from start and choosing the right topic and approach to goals and outcome). Please also include what obstacles you encountered and how you resolved them. We especially value reports that include a certain amount of self-evaluation in which you may have identified a weakness or deficit in your approach and resolved that before continuing with the child’s program. Please choose a case where you had to be flexible, where you had at least a few times set up your games or activities and explain how you abandoned your agenda to follow the child’s need in this minute to avoid pressure. Explain then what your next steps were to still over time encourage the child to participate in an activity or how you had to adjust your activity to keep the child’s interest. - Human Environment Case Study 3: Set the child up for success (Child 2: medium to high functioning)
- Human Environment Case Study 4: Set the child up for success (No Pressure/Flexibility)
Discuss with your assigned Movement Method Adviser which child might be suitable for this Case Study. For the selected child please write a one page report detailing a situation that arose where you struggled to get the child interested in an activity you had planned for them. Please include the child’s back story, the goal of the activity you had planned and why you planned the activity the way you did. Please also include how long you spent trying to get the child interested in your activity, what strategies you used to try and get the child interested in your activity and at what point you moved on to another activity. This report should also include what activities you planned for the child’s next two sessions, how you changed your strategy for the follow up playdates considering the child’s reaction to the initial activity and how the child reacted to these next activities. Remember this case study is intended to show that you are not putting undue pressure on the child and that you are flexible and willing to change your approach as and when it is needed.

Complaints/Accidents/Investigations
It is critical that the Horse Boy knows of complaints or accidents involving a Mentor. Please report complaints or accidents with a written report via e-mail as soon as possible for insurance and legal documentation.
We understand that accidents are going to happen, but we do need to keep track of them. That’s why it’s important that all incidents have a full report so that the real reason for the accident can be established.

Be nice to each other!
Remember our purpose is to help families that are having a tough time. The last thing they need is to have to work their way through backbiting and gossip within Movement Method Mentors. So be nice and supportive with each other. And remember we serve these families best if we serve a few families really well rather than large amounts of kids coming through our program and there is sure no shortage of autism families and kids that need your help. So support each other and refer people to each other. You are not only a Tribe within your barn you are also a part of the general Horse Boy Tribe and let’s try to be as functional of a Tribe as we can be.
Non-Horse Boy Practitioners advertising Horse Boy sessions
We want to help as many families out there as we can. As a result all our Methods are freely available on the Internet. We are very happy if somebody goes onto our website reads about it or buys our training DVD and starts applying some of the learned concepts. However unless a person is a certified Mentor, or Tribe following the above outlined standards and requirements, they don’t have permission to advertise themselves as offering Movement Method (camp, sessions etc). If you come across somebody, please report them to info@horseboyworld.com. Horse Boy’s rankings and levels are here to give families an idea of the service they are receiving. The Horse Boy Mark means nothing regarding the level of service if not everybody that advertises themselves as a Mentor actually went through the required workshops and training. So it’s in the best interest of the families we serve to keep a watchful eye on that. Also don’t forget Horse Boy is a trademark and can therefore not be used by anybody other than those authorized by Horse Boy.
