   G. has been in my small reading groups the entire year. Before the training for MM, I tried to ensure he followed along in the text- which was a hassle for both of us- I kept him quiet and sitting as still as possible.

Seeing no impact at all and not a care in the world for the text we were reading, it was a hopeless task. After the training, I really understood that certain conventions do not work for certain kids. I let go of the pressure of ‘eyes on the text’ and sitting still.

When G. was turning away from the group, even talking to himself, I was sure he was in a happier place, however, I thought he still could care less about text. He turned over his reading paper and started drawing (while chatting away).

His drawing was a perfect presentation of the text we were reading.
