Emotionally challenged and physically challenged: High School/ Middle School

1 year 9 months ago #431 by Brimbach
Our head of Special Education asked me in the hallways after our MM training:

"I am giving a summer camp for physically disabled and emotionally challenged middle and high schooler. The theme is "Animals, Action, Art" do you have ideas what to do?"

Posting this to our amazingly experienced and creative team from NTLS...

Team member Jen Tatham:

River dipping: "You give each child a creature identification sheet and a net and tray. The children go into the river with the net and collect stuff from the river bed. They then tip it in the tray and use the sheet to identify the creatures. They do a little feet shuffling, bottom wiggling dance to disturb the river bed! They then of course tip it back!"

Scub and I have been river dipping since he was 2. We still do it twice a week. Just being in that water brings happiness.
