how do i know if my child is autistic?
some people have asked us if we could post something about this so here goes:
your child could well be autistic if
they line up toys obsessively or in other ways fail to play appropriately with toys
they dont respond to their name
the are not pointing by 14-18 months
that have words by 12 months and then lose them
they 'stim' (flap, rock or make repetitive sounds)
they melt down inexplicably, especially when exposed to industrial and man made stimuli
they repeat back things theyve heard (echolalia) rather than speaking appropriately for their age group
if older they dont play with other children but tend towards ignoring them or 'parallel play' (playing next to other kids with no involvement
they lack fine motor skills except with certain 'stims'
they have gut issues
they are hyperactive (the last two are only indicators of autism if present with the previous list)
