Help Moso Heal – Support Square Peg Foundation’s Beloved Therapy Horse

At New Trails Learning Systems, we know the profound difference a single horse can make. Horses like Moso remind us every day how much they give — their patience, their humor, their ability to carry our stories and heal hearts. Today, Moso needs us to give something back.

Moso’s Story

Moso was donated to Horse Boy Foundation because of behavioral issues. His owner was clearly overwhelmed by his behavior., We quickly found that underneath his bossy exterior, he was a kind and genuinely good-natured horse. He already had an issue with one eye, which could certainly explain some of his tension. But once given understanding and patient handling, he began to show who he truly was — a sweet, willing partner.

When Moso joined Square Peg Foundation in California, he found his purpose. Under Joell’s care, he became one of the most dependable horses in their therapeutic riding and inclusion programs. He even started helping children who wanted to learn to jump — a true transformation from the anxious horse he once was.

A New Challenge

Recently, Moso faced a major medical emergency. After battling eye problems for years, he underwent extensive surgery. Unfortunately, he lost his remaining sight and is now completely blind. Despite everything, he remains his kind and gentle self — trusting his humans to guide him through this next chapter of life.

The cost of the surgery and recovery care has been immense. For programs like Square Peg, which already work hard to sustain their daily operations, an unexpected expense like this can hit hard.

How We Can Help

The Horse Boy Foundation has launched a fundraiser to help cover the medical costs so that Square Peg can continue providing the best possible care for Moso. Every little bit helps — if enough friends contribute even $10 or $20 each, we can reach the goal and make sure Moso’s care is fully funded.

Every donation will go directly toward Square Peg Foundation to support Moso’s ongoing medical expenses.

Why It Matters

If you’ve ever worked with therapy horses, you know how deeply they touch lives. Moso has given his heart to help children and adults find balance, joy, and confidence. Now it’s our turn to help him heal and live pain-free.

We’re sharing his story in the hope that our wider NTLS community — practitioners, families, and horse lovers — can come together to support one of our own.

Thank you for being part of this circle of compassion.
