Journalist Rupert Isaacson’s son, Rowan, was diagnosed with autism at age two.  As a former horse trainer, he discovered that Rowan’s condition improved when in contact with horses.

He and his wife went on a quest around the world to find healing for their son.  His books “The Horse Boy” and “The Long Ride Home” document their journey.

Dr. Temple Grandin was diagnosed when she was three and a half years old.  At the time, it was recommended that she be institutionalized.  Her mother had a different plan of action: early intervention.  Grandin went on to earn a doctorate in animal science and was even named by Time magazine as one of the most influential people in the world.
